What is Reiki?

Rei=Universal and Ki=Life Force Energy

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It was developed at the end of the 19th century by Mikao Usui. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving flow and balance of your energy to support healing.

Ariel completed her Reiki Master Certification in 2024 and is pleased to be able to offer this non-invasive but powerful energy work both in stand-alone sessions and integrated with massage.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit. It can bring relaxation as well as feelings of peace and wellbeing. It also works well in conjunction with other medical and therapeutic techniques (such as massage) to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What happens during a Reiki session?

You will be fully clothed lying on the massage table for a Reiki session. Ariel will gently place her hands in a series of specific locations on or just above your body, holding each position for a few minutes. There is no pressure or manipulation involved. You may feel energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing; you might also experience colors or other visuals. Some people may feel sensations moving throughout the body; others may not. Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful, and you may even fall asleep during the process.
